The Persian cat is one of the oldest, most recognizable, and popular pedigree cat breeds in the world. Originating in Iran (formerly Persia), these felines are famous for their luxurious, flowing long coats, large expressive eyes, and gentle, serene personalities. Breed Overview & Appearance Persians are heavily boned, medium-to-large cats with stocky "cobby" bodies and short, thick legs. Their traditional breed standard is defined by a large round head, small ears, and a sweet facial expression. Within the breed, there are two distinct facial variations: • Traditional (Doll-Face): Features a more prominent, classic feline snout that sits lower on the face. • Peke-Face (Ultra/Extreme): Showcases an extremely flat facial structure where the nose is aligned closely with the eyes.
